08993 'Ashburnham', one of the class 08s with cut-down cab for the Burry Port and Gwendraeth Valley line, shunts at Margam on 29th May 2000.
BR class 03 no. 03119 at Williton, West Somerset Railway, on 18th March 2005. Formerly numbered D2119, this locomotive is one of a number with a cut down cab for working on the Burry Port & Gwendraeth Valley line and was built at Swindon in 1959. The loco has since moved to the Epping & Ongar Railway.
03141, one of the locos with a cut down cab at Landore Diesel Depot. Nine 03's were modified by reducing their height by four and a half inches for use on the Burry Port & Gwendraeth Valley Railway in South Wales, where they were often seen working together in threes on the steeply graded line. They were replaced by similarly modified 08/9's operating singly in the later 1980s. 03141 survives at the Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway.

BP&GV cut down class 08 no 08993 'Ashburnham' rests at Pantyffynnon in March 1995.
The naming ceremony for the first two class 08/9s (08991 'Kidwelly' and 08992 'Gwendraeth' at Llanelli on 18th January 1986. Class 08/9 locomotives were modified from the standard class by being given headlights and cut-down cabs in which the overall height was reduced to 11’ 10” (3.61 m), for use on the Burry Port and Gwendraeth Valley Railway. The two were scrapped at Swansea in 1989 and their names taken by a further two conversions, 08994 which became 'Gwendraeth' and 08995 'Kidwelly'.
