56044 and 56035 at Bridgend with a Port Talbot - Llanwern iron ore train on 11th August, 1980. These locomotices were later named 'Cardiff Canton' and 'Taff Merthyr' respectively.
A pair of class 56s stabled at Llanelli on 18th January 1986. 56038 'Western Mail' is in blue, with 56035 'Taff Merthyr' nearest the camera. The latter was named at Taff Merthyr Colliery on 9th November 1981 by Sir Derek Ezra.
