309 Class 37s were built between 1960 and 1965. They will always be remembered for their work on South Wales coal traffic.

Before the line was singled, 37268 heads for West Wales at Gowerton on 2nd August 1980.

37274 passes Pengam, Cardiff in 1974.

37275 passes through Cardiff Central with 21 ton coal wagons during 1979.

A double headed pair of 37s with 37277 leading at Pyle.

37278 passes through Cardiff Central with a coal train on 30th July 1979.

37280 passes through Cardiff Central in August 1975.

37293 at Severn Tunnel Junction in June 1984. The Severn Tunnel emergency train is stabled in the siding behind the platform. From 1924 to 1966 Severn Tunnel Junction was the terminus of a car transport service through the tunnel to Pilning which was discontinued with the opening of the Severn Bridge in 1966.
